Invitation to Join a Small (Connect) Group

You are invited to attend an introductory connect group hosted by Toni and Gregg Freeman at the “The Vintage Clubhouse” 875 Rio Virgin Drive, St. George on Saturday, January 26, at 5:00 p.m. Those interested in participating in one of an existing or newly formed small group are encouraged to attend.

Current Connect Groups of SHUMC
Currently there are two connect groups that are active within the SHUMC community. The “Early Birds” have been meeting together for a number of years now and consists of 20 or so members. A second group (yet to be named) started in November of 2018 and has grown to over 30 members with more and more people joining every month. Because of the interest generated by word of mouth, it was decided to invite the congregation to an introductory gathering for the purpose of adding and organizing more groups.

Why join a Connect Group?
Connect groups bring people together. It gives us a time in which to get to know someone that we might only see at a worship service or church large group function. Groups will be organized by topics for folks with like minded interests of the Methodist faith. Connect groups are a time for studying a bible verse, sharing a devotion, socializing and sharing with each other what Jesus means to one another. It is a time to gather together to care for and share with each other.

Mechanics of a Connect Group gathering
Normally a connect group will meet once or twice a month (it is the decision of the group). After a brief meet and greet, a devotion is read and discussed. A time should be saved for sharing joys and concerns as well as sharing how God has been recently seen at work. There should be more than one prayer time. It is a time to gather to laugh and to cry together on the journey through our earthly life. With that said, each group decides what and when and where to meet and how often. The who is you. And the why is Jesus.

Please RSVP to Gregg Freeman at by January 23rd . We look forward to seeing you there.

Adult Nursery Volunteers Needed: We are seeking adult volunteers to assist Melody Alo, the Nursery Supervisor, in the nursery on Sunday mornings during the 11:00 a.m. worship time. A signup sheet is in the narthex. Beginning December 2, only nursery age children will be allowed in the nursery. All older children should sit with their parents (Acolytes near the ushers) in the sanctuary until the Choir has finished and the Children’s Sunday class begins.
