Partners in Ministry class: Wondering how to take the next step in deepening your relationship with the disciples at SHUMC?  Then the Partners in Ministry class will help! This class is a short discussion for those interested in joining the church who have questions about the wonderfully rich and diverse ministry at Shepherd of the Hills UMC.  We will gather on Sunday, June 4, 2017 in the Sanctuary following the 11:00 a.m. worship for a 40-minute discussion about the work of United Methodists and how our contributions of prayers, presence, service, gifts and witness make our work stronger.  For more information talk to Rev. Michael or call the office and come be counted in the covenant of discipleship as a Partner In Ministry at SHUMC!

I would like to go to the retreat at Pinecliff this year but I am not sure

I can do the physical labor. What is required of the workers?

Pinecliff is our  Conference campsite in the mountains near Salt Lake City. After the summer camps are over, there is maintenance that needs to be done before the camp Pinecliffcloses for the winter. There are often repairs that need to be made to equipment, necessary cleaning and painting of the dorms, and sometimes plumbing issues that need to be resolved.  Our Missions Ministry Team encourages all who are interested and able to spend time there to consider going.  Less intensive work is also available, such as meal and snack preparation, cleaning floors, and washing windows.  And if you are unable to do physical labor, we have evening discussions in which you can participate, as well.  It is a wonderful way to get to know your fellow parishioners.

Dates this year are from Friday, August 25 through Thursday, August 31, 2017. You may attend the entire time or part of the time. You may stay in the cabins or bring your travel trailer. Hook-ups are available.  Helen Christensen is the Chair of the Missions Ministry Team and is happy to answer any questions you might have.  She can be reached at keithhelen@msn.com or at  801-875-3977

Neighbor-to-Neighbor

(Solely-Owned Subsidiary of the Early Response Team)

Recently, an N-to-N team completed the replacement of an entry door to a woman’s home in Hurricane so she can get her wheelchair into her home. While doing this project, the team determined there were tools/items we needed that were not available in the SHUMC ERT trailer. These items include an impact driver, tin snips, vice grips, a wire brush, a wood rasp, 9” paint roller covers, and folding (to a small profile) sawhorses. To help N-to-N become better prepared to accomplish future projects, we are requesting donations of these items, or money to buy them. An N-to-N box will be in the Narthex next Sunday for receiving any donations you would like to make.

In addition, N-to-N is soliciting projects, especially from people in our church, that we can undertake. If any of you have yard work, minor household repairs, painting, spring cleaning, or anything else you would like us to evaluate and do, if we are capable, please contact Mike Cummins 435-272-4577, or Bob Moffitt 435-272-4830.

OTHER NEEDS

Bread Bakers Needed:  If you are willing to bake approximately six 3 x 5 loaves of bread each week for two weeks, please sign up in the Narthex or call the church office. This is the bread that Michael hands out as a "Welcome" to our visitors. Please consider doing this a few times during the year. It is a great way to extend our friendship and say, "We are glad you are here with us today."

Members in Need of Transportation: If you are able to help transport two ladies from the assisted living facility at Sun River to the 11:00 a.m. worship on Sundays, please contact Sandi in the church office at 435-627-8638.
