UNITED METHODIST CHURCH located at 920 Tonaquint Drive in St George.

Volunteers are needed to light the Advent candles and give the Advent Message Reading during each Sunday worship December 2 - December 23.

Signup sheets are located in the narthex.

Happy fall to you all! We want to thank all of you fabulous bakers for the delicious bread you have provided for our Welcome Center! We have gotten many positive comments from visitors who have come back on another Sunday and told us how much they have enjoyed it. The signup sheet is still in the Narthex and we could use more bread as the year progresses, so please consider signing up if you are willing and able.

Regarding the Welcome Center, we are looking for volunteers to help us with greeting our visitors. This would involve 5 minutes before the 9:00 AM service to set out the bread and put out the folders and gifts and 5-10 minutes after the service to greet any visitors. TheWelcome table can be left as it is for the 11:00 AM service. At the 11:00 AM service there would be no time needed before the service but 10-15 minutes at the end of the service to greet visitors and place the folders and gifts in the box under the table and return any bread to the freezer. We would so appreciate your help with this! There is a signup sheet on the table in the Narthex along with the directions outlining the procedures for both services. I remember so well the warm welcome my husband and I received from the members of this congregation and know you all have so much kindness and warmth to share. Please consider greeting at our Welcome Center as a way to share your kindness and warmth with our new visitors.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing

SHUMC will begin ringing bells for Salvation Army the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 23 and 24, and will continue until the weekend before Christmas. We will only ring bells at Pier One this year. Please consider signing up for a 2-hour time slot to ring the bells. It is a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit! Signups will be available in the narthex by mid-November. For more information contact Mike Cummins at 435-272-4577.

Angel Tree Program

The Angel Tree program is a prison ministry the Missions Ministry Team at SHUMC has sponsored for many years. The goal is to build or maintain a relationship between the prisoner and their children. The Angel Tree program provides Christmas gifts for childrenangelTreeLogo of parents who are in prison. This year we have asked for a few extra children to serve, as there are more children in the program. Angel gift tags with the name of the child and gift will be on our ‘Angel Tree’ in the Narthex on Sunday, November 25. We provide one clothing article and one toy/sport/craft item for each child.

1. If you would like to purchase a gift or two, please be sure to list your name and telephone number on the sign-up sheet by the angel tag’s code # you take off the tree. Each child’s 3 digit code number is Family# -Child# -Gift#. This helps us to know who to contact if we are missing any gifts before the delivery date. All the families have more than one child and we ask that you only spend $20 - $25 per gift to make sure no one feels left out.

2. After purchasing the gift, please wrap it. Remove the bottom information portion of the Angel gift tag, peel off the backing and attach the Angel to the front of the gift. Please bring your gift to the Narthex by Sunday, December 16. All gifts will be delivered to the families during the week before Christmas. For more information contact Jessica Wisecup at 801-501-0546 or Karen Sliwinski at 435-673-4418.

We want to thank you if you are able to participate by purchasing gifts for Angel Tree 2018.
And we also thank all those whose prayers include parents who are in prison and wanting to build or maintain a relationship with their children. You are blessed to be a blessing.
