Mountain Sky Conference District Gathering

This is a reminder for the upcoming Mountain Sky Conference District Gathering scheduled on March 30, 2019, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.  The locations for the Utah/Western Colorado District are the following:


  • Crossroads UMC, 599 30 Rd., Grand Junction, CO 81504
  • Shepherd of the Hills UMC, 920 W. Tonaquint Dr., St. George, UT 84770

The link for information on the Mountain Sky Conference District Gathering and to register online is    There is a $20 charge to attend this event.  Payment can be made online or at the door.  Alternatively, you may fill out one of the registration forms in the narthex and then turn it in to the Church Office.

We will welcome keynote speaker Diana Butler Bass, who has a doctorate from Duke University.  Diana is an award-winning author, internationally known public speaker, and thought leader on issues of spirituality, religion, culture and politics.



Backpacks for Kids Fundraiser
Dinner Dance

The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019, 5:30 p.m. at the Dixie Elks Lodgeback packs for kids #1743,  630 W 1250 North, St. George. Social hour, raffle tickets/silent auction; 6:00 p.m. dinner served, 7:30 p.m. dancing.

There will be a raffle/silent auction: items include many fun gift baskets, helicopter/plane rides/dolls, date-night gift packages, with wine, and $100 gift certificates to Kayenta Performing Arts Center.


Price of tickets is only $15.00 for a great evening. Another Off Road Adventure

offroad adventureWe had so much fun last time, we’ll do it again on Wednesday, March 20, 2019. We will be going on the Gold Butte Road (in the Gold Butte National Monument area). We will leave at 9:30 a.m. from the church parking lot. The trip will take about six hours total, so bring snacks, a lunch and chairs. Fun for Lunch Bunch

The Fun for Lunch Bunch will be meeting this month at Chef Hog’s Oyster Grill in Sunriver on Wednesday, March 21st, 11:30 a.m. Join us for lunch (they will also be serving breakfast) and have some fellowship time with our church friends. Short Creek Ministry


short creek food bankThe Short Creek Ministry will have a Spring Cleaning and Warehouse Sale (rummage sale) during early April. Proceeds will support their Food Pantry and the Heritage House, which helps young men and women seeking to leave the polygamist lifestyle.  They need volunteers to help price merchandise and assist on the date(s) of the sale, if possible.  They also need ongoing help on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month with their food pantry.  If you would like to help with the food pantry, or learn more about the upcoming sale, a group will be meeting in the SHUMC parking lot at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday 3/27/19 to carpool to Colorado City. The estimated return time is 6:00 p.m. that day.


New Women's Bible Study Class


Pat Evers will be leading a five-week Women’s Bible Study on friendship, entitled "Sisters of the Heart.”  This study will be held on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. beginning March 19, 2019.  A signup sheet is in the narthex.
