For over 55 years Pinecliff Camp and Retreat Center has provided a safe, wholesome environment away from our noisy, scattered world, where people, especially our children, can have fun, learn and grow.

It gets pretty dark out there while camping at night. We have to bring things like lanterns, flashlights, and headlamps to help us see, otherwise we might go down a wrong path, stumble and trip, or come across something dangerous.

The same thing can be said for everyday life, not just when we’re camping. It’s easy to make mistakes and go down the wrong path, stumble, and get into something dangerous.

Thankfully, God never leaves us to fend for ourselves in the dark. Scripture says God’s word (the bible) is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. He will literally direct our steps and make sure we stay on the right path if we read and understand his word.

Come and join in a celebration of Pinecliff Camp and Retreat Center on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Share in his word and be guided by his light, support your Methodist Church Camp today! Have you seen some wildlife while on a camping trip? Maybe you’ve gotten to see some animals that you don’t typically see on a regular day at home. Or what about nature’s landscape? Does it look different out there than it does back at home?

The Bible says to ask the animals, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and the earth itself, and they would teach us that all of these things are made with the hand of the Lord. What this scripture means is that it’s impossible to ignore this beautiful creation and all of its inhabitants, or to think that any of it appeared by accident. God should be praised for his mighty wonder.

Come join us on Sunday, October 17, 2021 in a celebration of Pinecliff Camp and Retreat Center. How can you help? – Send your child to Pinecliff Camp next summer. I’m sure that the deer, the bunny rabbits, the humming birds and many other animals will quickly capture your child’s attention there.

September 24, 2021 – You are Magnificent

What do you see when you look up at the sky? Are the stars visible? How about the moon? Is it full or crescent, or something in between? Can you believe that God made these bright, shiny, beautiful things in our sky without any point of reference? There was no artist before him from whom he could gain inspiration. And, he didn’t just hang these dazzling lights in the sky for decoration – they serve a purpose!

The same is true for you. God looked at the night sky and knew it needed the moon and the stars, but he also looked at the earth and decided it needed you, too. Just like all of his creations and masterpieces, you are not just a copy of someone else’s work. YOU are part of God’s GREAT, MAGNIFICENT work! And you too, serve a purpose. In the same way the moon reflects the sun, God made you to reflect him, and bring glory to him.

Come join us on Sunday, October 17, 2021 in a celebration of Pinecliff Camp and Retreat Center. How can you help? – Reflect upon him and donate your time, energy and talents. Volunteer to assist at one of Pinecliff’s summer camps. Send your child to camp and join in the fun yourself. You will be amazed by the WONDERS OF HIS WORK!

In the words of one of our 2018 Pinecliff Camp Counsellors:

“Dear Pinecliff,

Thank you so much for this beautiful camp. I have gotten to know several girls and made several memories. I have enjoyed being able to come with my own kids and watch them grow to love it also. Thank you! -Sandy D.”

September 17, 2021 – Keep the Campfire Burning

If you’ve ever tried to start a campfire and keep it going all night, you know that it has to be done right. You’ll need the proper materials and some skill. A great campfire starts with some kindling and dry wood piled up just right – you have to allow for proper airflow to get a good flame going. And of course, your power source, something to light that baby up.

Discovering our God-given gifts and abilities takes the same careful attention as starting and maintaining a campfire. Our gifts from God are ignited when we believe and use them for his purposes. Because God wants us to “fan (our gifts) into flame,” he gives us exactly what we need to identify and develop them: a spirit of boldness, power, love and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:6-7).

Come join us on Sunday, October 17, 2021 in a celebration of Pinecliff Camp and Retreat Center. Fan your gifts into a flame and support Pinecliff today! Your generous gift ensures Pinecliff’s future mission in the shaping of young camper’s lives. Twenty-five percent (25%) of all donations goes towards scholarships for young campers to attend Pinecliff sponsored camps, 75% goes towards the camp general fund. Since 1963, Pinecliff has provided a safe, wholesome and serene environment away from our noisy, scattered world, where people, especially our children, can have fun, learn and grow.

September 10, 2021 – In preparation for Pinecliff Sunday

Pinecliff Camp and Retreat Center is owned by the Mountain Sky Conference of the United Methodist Church (UMC). It is funded and operated by a small group of gifted volunteers from UMCs within Utah, and is currently not being used to its fullest potential. Therefore, we would like to heighten people’s awareness of it and the services it provides in order to increase attendance at its youth camps during the summer and help promote its use for family reunions, retreats for religious groups and other non-profit organizations.

As such, SHUMC will hold a Pinecliff Sunday at both services on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at which we will educate church members as to what Pinecliff is, where it is located, and the services it provides. Our primary purpose is educational; however, we also seek monetary donations and volunteer’s time and talents. Twenty-five percent (25%) of all monetary donations goes toward scholarships for young campers to attend Pinecliff sponsored camps, 75% goes towards the camp General Fund.

Volunteerism is a vital part of Pinecliff’s mission, we could not operate the camp without volunteers. We hold a work day each spring where volunteers turn on the water, clean cabins, install the necessary bedding and open up the camp prior to summer. It takes nearly 80 volunteers to operate the three Pinecliff sponsored youth camps offered each summer. We also hold a work week at the end of summer where volunteers perform any necessary building projects, maintenance items, and close the camp before winter sets in. This helps maintain the camp in a clean, sanitary and organized condition throughout the year.

Volunteerism is also very rewarding to those who give of themselves. In the words of a Pinecliff camp counsellor from 2018: “I’ve been coming to Pinecliff for 40-45 years, from a youth to a camp counsellor. This camp has provided many great experiences and has been a big part in helping me come closer to God!” – Anonymous

Camp fees and donations, whether of the monetary variety or someone’s time and talents, are the only means that Pinecliff has to maintain and expand the camp to help others. We ask anyone who has either camped or volunteered at Pinecliff in the past to wear their Pinecliff T-shirt to church on Pinecliff Sunday. Come share with others how beautiful Pinecliff is, what a great time you had there, and the great fellowship you shared there. You are all part of the Pinecliff family and we invite you to help us celebrate this great camping/fellowship mission.
